Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at swim@swimdynamiclakeland.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Swim Dynamic is passionate about swimming and water safety. We pride ourselves on swim lessons designed to accommodate the individual. We bring a respect and love for the water by balancing functional skills with confidence, through fun. We value honesty and integrity and put others first by showing compassion and respect.

Our instructors complete comprehensive training, which requires 45-50 hours of hands-on training, a passing score on the SwimAmerica 4-hour online swim instructor course exam. In addition, some instructors hold additional specialized certifications for adaptive aquatics.

All lessons occur at our south Lakeland facility where we provide indoor, heated pools.  Our address is 5825 Brannen Road S, located off of Brannen Road S, near Sonny's and the SPCA.

Our pools are indoors; there is no need for sunscreen. The only item you will need to bring with you is a towel for after the lesson. You may also bring a change of clothes if you would like to change before leaving. Goggles are strongly encouraged for children 3 and older, as they facilitate faster learning. Children 3 and under, and older children who are not fully potty-trained, are required to wear a Splash About HAPPY NAPPY swim bottom. *please see policies regarding fecal accidents. Goggles and Happy Nappy's are available at our swim store on-site.

**Before entering the pool area, please have your child/children do the following things: Remove food, gum or candy from the mouth Remove all adhesive bandages Use the restroom

Please arrive five minutes before (no earlier please) the scheduled class time. Parents must accompany children at all times while on the premises. During peak times the parking lot is crowded. Please take into consideration the safety of others and drive slowly and carefully.

There are changing rooms, a restroom, and a water fountain for your convenience. Please use the check-in kiosk upon arrival.  The swim school can sometimes be a stressful place for new families. Please be considerate of others. Our instructors will most likely be in the water with a lesson when you arrive. Please be seated in the waiting room until swimmers are escorted to their lessons.

KICKSTARTS AND WEEKLY LESSONS: We ask that you kiss your little one and trust them to the care of our employees. We have viewing areas set up near the pool, where you can see everything happening in the pools via video feed. This allows us to quickly bond with your little one and help them realize that we are there to help them. We always assure them that their parents will be back very soon. We have found that when allowing parents to sit up close, our swimmers often have a hard time paying attention to the lesson and only look for a parent to “rescue” them. We ask that you wait in the viewing room for the entirety of the lesson. As your child thrives in the lessons, our site supervisor may discuss progress and/or showcase your swimmer's new skill or accomplishment.  PARENT INTERACTIVE CLASSES: One parent/adult is required in the water. Others may be poolside or wait in the viewing rooms.

Parents/responsible parties must remain on site for each lesson (no matter the age of the participant) to escort children safely to and from the restroom when needed, or to be available in cases of emergencies, inclement weather, or questions.

Swim lessons will absolutely be safe! Our lessons are completely committed to our swimmers, while we are working on new skills and teaching them to navigate the water. We always have at least one lifeguard on duty and our instructors are professionally trained and certified.

Please note that your child may be concerned about leaving you in this new environment. Our highly trained instructors typically gain swimmer’s focus quickly by engaging them in conversation and song shortly after parting. Keep in mind that this does not mean that your child will "love" swimming right away. The first few days of lessons are tough. They will be in a NEW environment, working with a NEW person on NEW skills. That can be very overwhelming to anyone, let alone a child. Typically, the anxiety of performing the skill at hand is greater than the actual skill itself. We promise to comfort and care for your child as they acclimate to all of these new things.

Should the weather become a problem, we will contact you within 30 minutes of your lesson time. When lightning is within 5-6 miles, we will evacuate the pools. The pool will be cleared of all participants for lightning within said range and will remain clear for 30 minutes after each additional occurrence.  If swim lessons are taking place in the water and inclement weather occurs, there must be 15 minutes left of the lesson for it to be rescheduled.  See WHAT HAPPENS IF A CLASS IS MISSED for reschedule and cancellation policy.

If your child is sick, please let us know with as much advance notice as possible.  We ask that you keep your little one out of lessons until they are fever-free, and/or vomit and diarrhea-free for at least 24 hours.  See WHAT HAPPENS IF A CLASS IS MISSED for reschedule and cancellation policy.

ALL lessons and classes at Swim Dynamic require 24-hour notice for rescheduling and/or cancellation (including sickness).  With proper notice, excused absences AND lessons cancelled by Swim Dynamic (due to inclement weather, etc.) will be issued a makeup token.  Excused absences are limited to one makeup token per month. Makeup tokens for weekly recurring lessons will expire at the end of each calendar year or upon the last day of class once a drop date is entered. Makeup tokens for kickstarts must be used within 30 days.

Without proper notice, families can either forfeit the lesson/class or schedule to attend a designated makeup class (log in to your account to review the policies and fee chart).  Makeup classes are scheduled on the last Saturday of each month and require 24 hour notice to enroll.

Unfortunately, our facility does have limitations for lessons. Because our pools are above ground, our pools may not be a good fit for swimmers who need assistance climbing stairs, have injuries or weak joints, or whose weight exceeds the 250lb staircase limit.

The minimum age requirement for swimming classes at Swim Dynamic is 4 months for our parent interactive classes. We also offer classes for toddlers, children, teens, and adults.

We keep our class sizes small to ensure personalized attention and instruction. Private lessons are one-on-one with the instructor. Semi-private lessons include two to three swimmers.  Parent interactive group classes have no more than six.

We offer instruction in a variety of styles at Swim Dynamic. From our Parent Interactive class to adult lessons AND everything in between, we offer a broad knowledge of swimming, water safety, and survival skills, as well as stroke development using the SwimAmerica curriculum. We also work with swimmers to conquer fears and calm anxiety regarding the water. From breath control to butterfly, our lessons progress through a series of detailed skills that create well-rounded swimmers with a life-saving, life-long enjoyment of the water.  *scroll to the bottom of the HOME page to see video and explanation of our swim levels.

Personal information shared with the Swim Dynamic is only used for the authorized purpose. Personal information gathered by Swim Dynamic is not disclosed to third parties or other agencies unless required by law.  Classes will be billed upon enrollment.  Recurring weekly classes will continue to be billed on the first of each month and require a 30 day written drop notice in order to stop payment. *Please also see Billing Authorization Policy. Class Passes expire 30 days after purchase.  If you require our assistance via phone/email/social media/text to schedule or reschedule lessons, please note that you are authorizing us to charge your payment method on file.

Swim Dynamic is committed to compassion and respect.  Upon immoral or unethical behavior, we hold the right to terminate any agreement with said client, at our discretion.

Swim Dynamic is categorized as a commercial pool and is regulated by the Polk County Health Department Children.  We have automated feeders that keep our pool chemicals at the perfect level for healthy water.  Owner, Sarah Swartz, is a certified Aquatics Facility Operator and prioritizes cleanliness.  However, accidents do happen.  That's why we require swimmers (ages three & under, and older children who are not fully potty-trained) to wear a Splash About HAPPY NAPPY swim bottom. Happy Nappy swim bottoms reliably protect our pools from fecal accidents.  If a family chooses to opt out of our swim bottom requirement, and their child has an accident in the pool, said family will be subject to a sanitization and loss of class time fee of $400. *Happy Nappy bottoms are available at our facility's swim store*

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

It is our goal to preserve an environment which includes a high degree of innovation, goal orientation, quality ideas from the swimming community and a coherent direction for action. By providing a variety of proper techniques and services, we are able to satisfy the needs of the community. Our professionally run, lifeguard supervised organization offers highly trained staff that are prepared to work with swimmers at all ages and stages of swimming. Our program  is designed to accomplish effective and rapid learning. Every student is taught with care, compassion, good humor, respect and understanding.

That being said, YOU are the primary safety provider for your child in any setting. During lessons, handing that role over to our instructors may seem difficult. Rest assured that all of our instructors are trained and certified to fill that role during your child’s experience with us. At our facility, you are an observer and along with your child, you are a student. Take in everything you see and hear. You will be able to use this information as you work with your child in the water following completion of their lessons.
